Career

Worked as disc jockey at two California  radio stations. Evening air personality, KBBF FM in Santa Rosa, 1978-79. Afternoon host, KSOL in SanFrancisco, 1979-81. Weekends at WORL, Orlando, Florida 1983-89. Morning Show Host WWKO Cocoa Beach Florida 1992-1993,Operations Director WOKB 1994-2010, Presently Host Steve January Morning Show Rejoice 1140.

 

Life's Work

Steve January has always been Involve in Community Projects. He first came to public attention by hosting Evening radio show in Santa Rosa California named The Currie Gang Show and a Popular Northern Calif Dis-Jockey Known for promoting Disco Dances simultaneously for Four years, Steve also was in charge of entertainment while attending Santa Rosa Jr College. With disco on the rise popularity soared as Steve was on demand throughout Northern California hosting College Dances and Concerts Steve became a hot trend in the late 70s and the biggest Disco Dis Jockey In Northern California.

 

Steve January Currie was born in Orlando, Florida, in 1959. As a young man he wanted to be a Mortician so he worked with his God Father Willie J. Bruton Owner of Bruton Funeral in Orlando Fla.he worked part time while attending public school. Years later he would start working has a junior jock for WOKB  he would announce high school games on the Morning show with another will know Dis-Jockey name “Daddy Cool.

With his mortuary career on the back end, Steve embarked upon a radio career. By the late 1990s he was a fixture in Orlando, working at his station he grew with WOKB. Re programming the station to gospel in 1997 Steve got a big break when he was hired by the radio station  to host its morning program, and become Operation Director within a couple of years his show was the second-rated morning show in that market.
